Many members of the medical community think that the thin fabric strip of a thong may act as a conduit for carrying infection-causing rectal bacteria to the vagina.
But no research has been done to prove or disprove this. What is known is that a thong can rub & irritate skin, causing tiny abrasions that can get inflamed and cause discomfort. Therefore, the symptoms lead many women to think they may have an infection, when in fact they don't.
I think it's safe to go ahead & wear the panties. If you turn out to be one of those people with sensitive skin, there's no harm in saving those sexy thongs for special occasions.
