| | | Vasectomy
I am writing this for all of the guys out there that are thinking of getting a vasectomy.
I had been wanting one for quite some time now and one day I was on the VA (Veteran's Administration) website and I saw that the VA will pay for voluntary sterilization. I made a few phone calls and I got a call from a urologist in Amarillo who said that he would do it for me.
I was a bit nervous, to say the least, and alot of my friends and co-workers told me all kinds of horror stories about the procedure. I went to the website and read the process and it didn't seem too bad from what I read. They now have a procedure called No-Scalpel Vasectomy. They have this deal that uses a high pressure jet of air to inject anesthetic into your scrotum. It stings just a little bit but not too bad. Then the urologist took a pair of sharp hemostats and cut into the base of my penis and pulled out my vas deferens and clipped both sides and put a titanium clip on each side. I was in and out in less than a half an hour. I walked out like nothing happened and actually drove 4 hours home right afterward. The doctor prescribed me some pain killers and thank goodness that he did. When the anesthesia wore off my groin area was sore as shit. When I woke up the next morning I could barely walk and my testicles were swollen to the size of a medium sized lemon and WOW were they sore. I sat around most of the next day sitting in my chair with my feet up on pillows and an ice pack on my junk.
Here it is 5 days later and I am still experiencing a moderate amount of pain but it seems to be getting better. I think by tomorrow or the next day I should be back to normal.
I just wanted to share my experience with my fellow male NF'ers and the female NF'ers with husbands that may be contemplating this procedure. Don't listen to your friends or people that tell you it is going to hurt like hell, etc. I had never been in any kind of surgery and this was a piece of cake for it being my first time under the knife of any kind.
Good luck, if you plan on getting one. Just be assured that the horror stories are nothing but a story. You will be fine.

You! It's so much less invasive, and more apt to be reversible should you ever change your mind.

IMNaughty said it wasn't too bad either. And yes Bio, YOU should do it. Much less invasive and a much faster recovery period.

Had it done... no big deal. The worst pain was.... just like stiches... the shot for the pain killer.
Lots of frozen corn was thawed that week .

Mine was no big deal, either. I didn't have any problems with swelling at all. Actually, the worst part for me was the hangover. I bypassed the Valium they provided to take before the procedure and got plowed instead.
