As you may or may not notice I'm making some changes to the board. Some will be very obvious, some won't. I upgraded to the latest version of vBulletin, which is 3.8, and updated some of the little hacks and add-ons that the site uses. Some things look like they might be lost. Here's my list to date, and I'll update this thread with new things, and feel free to ask questions.
User profiles have changed. vBulletin (
VB) added some hooks to it's new components there. I like it for the most part. The friends/buddy system is built-in, so you'll have to rebuild your buddy lists (I think).
vBulletin added a photo album section that ties to your user accounts better than photoplog. I'm going to see if there's a way I can move your photos from photoplog to your own albums (see my profile or click
All Albums to see the new structure). This will be our new album section, and I will shut down Photoplog, so if you're in the mood to add some photos, please do it here.
I Added a new Media tag to our BB code. It's pretty simple, you put the URL of a video (say
YouTube - Michael Jackson is Dead) between [ m ] [ / m ] (no spaces) and the video should appear. It works with Blip.TV, Daily Motion, FaceBook Videos, Google Videos, Guba, MegaVideo, MetaCafe, MySpace Videos, Own3d, PhotoBucket Videos, Veoh, Viddler, Vimeo, Yahoo Videos, YouTube Videos, Youtube Playlists, Wipido, Zshare Videos.
There's a new Blog section -
Naughty Files Adult Discussion Board - Blogs - which allows us to share more than just a little post here and there. I'm going to assume that it integrates well with the board, but there might be some needed changes. For example, if your profile pic is too big, it covers the blog area (
http://www.naughtyfiles.net/forums/blogs/donaldchase/), but I'll work on that. I'm hoping some of you won't mind sharing your thoughts, ideas, and writings with us.
There's a whole new community tab on the bottom of the title bar which has a new groups feature. I haven't played with it yet, but some of you should feel free to (if you can).
Chat is still up. It's not a great system, but it works. If anyone knows of any more let me know.
I added some games to the arcade.
I still have to figure out how to keep the matchmaker link in user profiles later.
You can add tags to your posts so people can easily find related posts as well.
I looked at different stores, and found one which is crappy, and another without any gifts. I will continue to play with them and will install one if I think one is worth it. However, they are not simple and uniform. Worst of all, the next update of
VB is a big one, and I'm not going to play too much with things that might have a very short shelf life.
